Our trip to NOLA

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

Sunday night we returned home from a little getaway to New Orleans! We headed to the Big Easy for my cousin's wedding on 11-11-11. It was AMAZING and such a blast to be there with my whole crazy family (well, sans kids- really missed them!).

I am still sifting through laundry, emails, and kids school papers (geesh i have 1398283 papers on the counter from the 2 school days we were gone- they are like rabbits!)... so I haven't had a chance to upload my "real" photos. But I wanted to share a few of my treasured iphone photos (which are still "real" if you ask me)

We decided to drive down to New Orleans in two days. 7 hours the first day, and 6 the second day.... 13 hours total. no biggie, right?? take it easy and enjoy the ride...

Ummm, only 3 hours in this is was in our rear-view mirror. CRAP. no comment who was behind the wheel. ;)

We stopped in Memphis that night so we could go here the next day (Thursday):

GRACELAND! Super fun to see the "White House of Rock 'n Roll"!! I was that annoying girl who took 500 pictures in every room, so stay tuned for a Graceland post. ;) One of my favorite parts was the rock wall outside of Graceland- so cool.

We rolled into the Big Easy as the sun was setting Thursday night, and it was just lovely.

We checked in our hotel and then headed to dinner at Red Fish with my cousins....

and then took a casual stroll down Bourbon Street....

and OH MY WORD is there a way to sanitize my eyeballs?????? Was.not.prepared. AND IT WAS ONLY 9:30PM!!! I thought Vegas was bad. This? whole other level. (but we did laugh alot:)

Friday was the wedding... and it was BEAUTIFUL. So happy for my cousin.

The wedding/reception was at this gorgeous Southern Plantation-- she came in on a horse-drawn carriage, there were fireworks, twinkly lights. seriously beautiful. We had so much fun together as a family. and this place served like 80 different varieties of appetizers, soups, desserts!! craziness!

We did lots of other sight-seeing and shopping. On Saturday we saw the World War II Museum: it was SO neat. We also got to meet up with fellow scrapping friend Meghann Andrew and her husband- it was a blast meeting them! They took us down St Charles Street-- such beautiful homes!

So how were the kids while we were gone, might you ask?

They stayed home with their "Aunt Ki" (my sister in law nikki) and had a blast doing who knows what as you can see. (i'm afraid to even ask :)

I am currently working on getting my NOLA mini book updated (i did complete some of it while i was there). I will share pics of it when it's completed!
