Project Life Week 27: Using the iPhone... and Wallpaper

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

This week covers the week of July 2-8.

If last week was the week I almost lost my mind, this week is the week I officially lost it.  ;) This was the week of our move. (and July 4th, and jonah's half birthday, and my parents were on vacation in Alaska!!).

One thing for sure was that I didn't pick up my camera once this week-- there was no time and honestly I didn't even know where it was!  Every photo here was from my Iphone.  I LOVE that I still have photos from this crazy week-- even though it was busy and stressful, I am SO glad to have it documented here.
Simple was the key for this week's spread as I am still unpacking my scrapbook supplies!  For the left page I enlarged an Iphone photo of the moving truck at our old house.   The photo is backed on actual wallpaper scraps from our new house! (the wallpaper was hung this particular week!)

I was doing a little happy dance when I found out there were scraps leftover to use in my Project Life :)

Since the right page was heavy with photos, I used many of Elle's Studio Lil Snippets: Tiny Labels as journaling spots.  They are perfect for journaling layered over photos!

Even though it's simple, I am so happy with how this week's layout turned out!!!

No Words.

Really, there are no words.

This girl provides endless entertainment as I am shuffling through boxes and this close to losing my mind due to the "transition phase" of our move.

Untitled

She and her brother keeps us laughing. And they remind me the stuff in the boxes can wait.

Because seriously, who would want to miss this?

No words. :)

Project Life Week 26: catching up

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

This week's Project Life covers the week of June 25-July 1... the week before our move!  Otherwise known as the week I almost lost my mind.   Kidding. sort of.

IMG_0322

This week was all about Jordan's dance recital, starting swim lessons (and seeing jonah swim in the deep end!), HOT weather, a Colts dinner for Todd, progress in the home renovation, and of course, packing.

IMG_0304

Yes, I have fallen a few weeks behind due to the summer and move, but I have to say, i am SO happy with my album.  I just love every bit of it--- working on it, looking at it, watching my kids enjoy it.   I love it all.  I am so happy I have this crazy, chaotic summer (due to our move), documented.

IMG_0298

Some interesting items I included this week was a photo of our new hardwood floors with journaling on top, quotes, screen shots of weather, found items such as brochures and ticket stubs, OH and some of Elle's Studio's new Everyday Tags (will be available soon).

IMG_0300

I had so much fun chatting with people who visited our booth at CHA about Project Life.  I realized then that this has become my main album this last year.  It tells the complete story of our year, and it is so treasured by everyone in our family.  And that?  Makes me so happy.

Holiday World

Monday, July 23, 2012

This past weekend we took a little family trip to Holiday World!!

IMG_0357

Holiday World is a huge theme park/water park located in Santa Claus, Indiana!  I grew up going to Holiday World every summer with my cousins and grandparents since they lived about 30 minutes away from the park.  Since I was a kid it transformed to a cute theme park to a HUGE park.   You really need two days to do it all!

IMG_0370

The amusement park and it's rides are divided into all the holidays of the year-- Christmas, Halloween, Fourth of July, and Thanksgiving.

IMG_0337

The Christmas area is at the entrance of the park-- Christmas music, Christmas trees, Christmas shops, nativities, and yes, you may even see this guy....  it was Christmas in July and we loved every minute of it.

I have to say, the park blows me away with the cleanliness.   They also offer unlimited free soft drinks and free sunscreen stations.   I love seeing family businesses go the extra mile :)
Untitled

We discovered that Jonah is crazy about all the rides and waterslides....

IMG_0345

And Jordan???

IMG_0368

Not so much.
Untitled

She preferred the kiddie rides most of all (and the little waterslides).  Which is fine since she is still little :)
Untitled

This particular Holiday World experience was special because we treated the employees of our moving company, Jay's Moving, and their families to a day at the park.   We believe family businesses should go the extra mile to take care of others and thank employees for their hard work!!

Untitled

It was a super fun day!  I wish i had photos of us in the waterpark, but of course that would be interesting carrying a phone/camera around, so I just put it down and enjoyed the afternoon.

If you are ever in the southern Indiana/northern Kentucky area i would definitely recommend enjoying a few days at Holiday World!!!

CHA recap!

Friday, July 20, 2012

I said it last year, and i will say it again.  As much as i LOVE looking at the new releases, papers, embellishments on the show floor, my FAVORITE is meeting wonderful people in this industry.  There are some spectacular, genuine, kind people that work in the scrapbooking industry.  It was a blast spending time face to face!

IMG_0270

I had the awesome opportunity to travel to Chicago with Elle and work in the Elle's Studio booth.  It was our first time to exhibit at the show.  I can't say enough wonderful things about Elle-- she is an incredible designer and has a heart of gold.  We had a blast together!!!   Thanks Elle, for bringing me along!

She will be showing some booth photos on the blog over the next few days, so stay tuned! :)   We had lots of great visitors stop by!

IMG_0245

I enjoyed so much talking to Shimelle-- she is wonderful!   I loved hearing about her many travels and stories!
Untitled

Lexi and I met last year at CHA so I was super excited to hear she would be working in the October Afternoon booth!  We would swing by each other's booth when we had breaks.  She is just a doll.

Untitled

And of course Nicole and Jen at Studio Calico.  Love those girls!  They are so sweet and both so very talented!

IMG_0265

We had the best booth neighbors ever-- Lawn Fawn!  They were SO nice and helpful to us as we were getting the booth set up!!!   (isn't their booth so cute!?)

IMG_0268

Mike and Kelly at Lawn Fawn are as nice and genuine as they come.  We really enjoyed being neighbors the last few days!

IMG_0272

My friend Ronda stopped by to say hello!  I met Ronda almost two years ago on the Greece trip and we designed together at Lily Bee. Love her!  She is one amazingly talented woman!

We were so busy at our booth that I didn't get a TON of photos of the showroom floor :(   But i wanted to share a few that I do have!
IMG_0246

Loved October Afternoon's new lines-- especially Midway and their Christmas lines.  And of course their booth projects!

IMG_0248

It never fails, I always love Studio Calico's new releases-- Wonderland and Yearbook are gorgeous.

Amy Tan always has the most creative and fun booths at the show.  Ready Set Go is a great new line!

It was a FUN week.  Loved meeting so many familiar faces and seeing such pretty paper!!!   It's amazing how much time we spend getting ready, and it flies by so fast.   It's just makes me even more excited for the next one:)

Project Life Week 25: Limiting Options

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

This week's Project Life covers the week of June 18-24.

So I have gotten a bit behind on Project Life, but that's to be expected during a move.  My craft room is still pretty much boxed up.  Only the essentials have been unpacked, and I have to admit, it was refreshing to use only a few supplies when creating this week's Project Life.

I pulled out my Project Life stash, which contains my Elle's Studio tags and Becky Higgins Clementine Core, a few alphabet stickers, and Studio Calico's Hey Dey papers from a recent 2 Peas order, and went to town.
IMG_0154

This week was the end of baseball- so I included info and photos from Jonah's baseball season.  Also I touched on the summer "work vs play" balance I am always trying to achieve (finding the balance can be hard!)

IMG_0157

I am so glad i didn't wait until my scraproom was perfectly organized to get started (PS it may never be perfectly organized:)  It's a great thing to use what you have-- done is better than perfect!
