Waiting Backstage

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

Last night was the dress rehearsal for Jordan's ballet/tap recital (the big show will be Friday night!).

Untitled

It was so precious to watch Jordan with her friends backstage waiting to go on!  The theme for one part of the show is "Disney";  Jordan and her BFF Claire are trying to get a glimpse of all the Disney Princesses on stage here.  They were captivated !  So precious.

IMG_9867

The  girls were not afraid of all to be on stage with the lights.  And of course the make-up is a big plus.

IMG_9891

She has a tap number AND a ballet number, so last night was all about practicing, changing costumes, and getting comfortable on the stage.   It sure is a lot of fun to be watching and waiting for her backstage.

What a fun night!

Project Life Week 23: Using Numbers

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

This week's Project Life covers the Week of June 4- June 10.

IMG_9782

We had just come home from vacation, so it was the typical week of getting back in the everyday groove.  There was much progress this week with our home renovation project, so I added many photos of the progress (love having it documented in Project Life), the fact I started packing, and also the paint chips of our color pallate were chosen this week, so I added those to the mix.

IMG_9767

Another interesting perspective I added to the spread this week was the focus on numbers.  Numbers are a great way to document different and interesting parts of the everyday.

IMG_9778

This week was my dad's sixtieth birthday, so I documented that along with his birthday dinner were we spent three hours at the restaurant talking.  I also documented the fact we went to the paint store twice this week trying to figure out our paint colors!

IMG_9779

On the right side I used numbers in documenting our first visit to the splash park this summer, and also that the whole family took a three hour nap sunday (rare!).

IMG_9783

A few other interesting items I added this week was a picture jordan made-- she included a heart in her person.  I journaled about the fact that we have been talking a lot lately about how our hearts is what makes us beautiful.   Those are the things I know I will love looking at years down the road.

And that's Week 23!  Each week I can't get over how much I love this project and have so much fun working on it.

Life Right Now

Life right now is busy.

IMG_9459

We are less than two weeks away from our move date.

IMG_9808

Life right now contains many boxes.

and days at the pool.

IMG_9409

Life right now is all about balancing summer fun with a summer move.

Life right now is about teaching---

IMG_9441

Teaching my boy to swim, teaching the kids to do their chores without asking, and working on the first updated on my summer mini book class.

Life right now is about learning--

IMG_9817

Learning I have way too much stuff.    And that I can live (and breathe) easier with a smaller amount of everything.  Amazing that paring everything we own down to the very basics for a few weeks is a nice change.

Learning that I am needing daily time in the Word.

Life right now is very busy, but very full.

Life is so very Grand

Thursday, June 21, 2012

Especially when you are running around on the beach, right??? ;)

IMG_9380

I put together this layout about our little pit stop in Grand Haven on our Michigan vacation.  I used bits and pieces from Elle's Studio Here & Now kit and also some of Elle's new Summer Lovin' tags.

IMG_9387

It's a little bit messy, bit's and pieces, layering, and butterflies.  A fun summer layout :)

You can see a Step by Step tutorial on how I created this layout over at Elle's Studio.

Have a GRAND thursday :)

through the iPhone lens...

We've been running back and forth from our house to the new house. It's fun to check the daily process as we are getting so close to a move date (maybe 2 weeks?).  The kids rooms had carpet installed yesterday.  Right now I am packing while also trying to keep the house semi-clean for potential showings.

We've been doing lot's of swimming.  Lots.  Did I mention I THINK i may have taught Jonah how to swim last week?  Super proud moment for both of us.  He's still working on it (and wears a life jacket in the deep end when we are not having a "swim lesson") but we are seeing huge progress.

Was able to have some "me time" last night with a cut and highlight. LOVE THOSE NIGHTS.

That's our Tuesday through the iPhone lens.

Project Life Week 22: Documenting Vacation

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

The week's Project Life covers the week of May 28-June 3... otherwise known as our VACATION WEEK.  This week we went  to Michigan AND attended a family wedding on our drive back home.

IMG_9642

I was simultaneously looking forward to documenting this week (because it was great) and dreading documenting this week (due to the sheer amount of photos, memories, and stories).

IMG_9627

Sometimes it's hard to pick and choose items for a big week, such as a vacation week.  We had multiple big events occur, and I wanted to represent each one of these well AND tell meaningful stories.

IMG_9607

The left page mostly consisted of our time at Bear Lake.  All of these photos (except the family photo and weather screen shot) were taken on the same day!!  It was very cool towards the end of the week and we only had one lake day, but I definitely wanted to include these photos.   I wrote about what we did but also mentioned other items like how long we (especially jonah) had been waiting for this trip.

IMG_9603

I included two inserts in my layout.  The first insert is the actual program from my cousin's wedding we attended Friday night.  I placed a doily (from the grocery store!) cut in half on the program and journaled a bit about this being a vacation week AND family wedding week.

IMG_9610

On the backside of the program I journaled a bit about things I loved about the wedding.  I didn't carry my large camera to the wedding but I did take a few iPhone photos (i wish i took more!).  Sometimes if I don't have the photo, I take extra time to journal about the memories of the event.

IMG_9615

My second insert is actually a Project Life Design A page by Becky Higgins trimmed in half.   I trimmed the outside of the small right pocket in order to put the small Elle's Studio circle tag and then added stitching.

IMG_9614

On the backside of the insert I had an 8x12 photo printed of the sunrise at Bear Lake.  I trimmed it down a bit and included it on the second insert. (i have a new found love of enlargements in project life!)

IMG_9622

Below is the right page of the Project Life layout.  I included items such as the wedding menu and packaging from a shopping trip in Michigan.  It's been awhile since I added ephemera, and I always love how much it adds to the layout.

And there you have it, Week 22!!
