birthday twins

Saturday, July 26, 2008

jordan was born on her cousin charlotte's fifth birthday. since jordan was born a week and a half early, it was an unexpected special surprise the she and charlotte would share the same birthday. we knew it was a possiblity, but with my track record of being induced at 41 wks with jonah, we didn't really think it would actually happen. well, what a cute little thing charlotte and jordan will always share together--- february 26th. we call them the birthday twins. Charlotte's little face lights up when i say that and she gives me her sweet little giggle... it's so precious.

Well, today Jordan is 5 months old, and Charlotte is five years AND five months old. Happy 5 month-day little birthday twins! We love you!

Fresh Fruit

Today I picked up ten pounds of blueberries. Does anyone have good recipes that include blueberries!? If you do, Email me!

I have blogged a few times already about "straw-bears". TWICE this summer already we picked strawberries- so much fun.We have really gotten into the fresh fruits and vegetables this season. And we are in the process of growing our own veggie garden. I think having jonah help water the garden each day, and also actually picking the strawberries does wonders for his diet (and mine:)!

I think It's true what they say... home grown (or hand picked) fruits and veggies just taste BETTER!

Yum-o!!!

playing with photoshop

Thursday, July 17, 2008

my father in law is in town, and last night he was showing me photoshop on his computer. we took a picture i had taken recently and came up with this:

now i am familiar somewhat with photoshop but have never considered the program an option since it cost like $600 or something. But apparently there is photoshop elements that's a ton cheaper? Hmmmm this could be seriously addicting and my next time burglar!

What to do on a hot summer day....

cuddle on mom and dad's bed and watch Mickey:

How hilarious are these pictures? The first one is great... Jonah goes nuts over his videos... i mean, screaming, jumping up and down, imitating every move. I think i see Broadway lights in his future. ha. Anyway.... mickey must have done something fabulous to make him scream and you can see Jordan startle! (don't blame her... he has a scream that can pierce your eardrum). I think the second one is a little more precious. : ) Jonah actually crawled up on my bed and wanted to hold Jordan. I literally can count the number of times on my hand that he has held her... and this was the FIRST time he initiated. So i guess he noticed that she is sticking around for awhile! I tried to take her back after a few minutes and he looked at me and said "No!" OK, i'll listen to that "No"!

I think Jo and Jor bonded this past week in Michigan. They slept side by side in their little pack n plays and went to Kids on a Mission (KOM) together during the morning and evenings. Jordan has always found security in Jonah... but now, I see him finding security in her. he felt a little more comfortable in Michigan when he went to KOM and notice that she was staying too. It's only taken almost 5 months....but i think he likes her. and i'm lovin every second of it.

A Trip to Michigan to see Jesus...

we are back from a week in michigan! and OH what a week it was!

Back in october, todd and i attended our first ever Jesus Film Briefing in Lake Tahoe, CA. You can read some of my thoughts here . After Tahoe, Todd and I knew that God was calling us to return once again (specifically to this briefing in Mackinaw Island-- it had a full childcare program from birth on up- score!) to learn more about this Project, and pray about who we could take with us. He answered that prayer and our good friends Jeff and Tiffany went with us. All I can saw is God showed up this weekend and I am continually in awe of Him.

It's hard to put into words my feelings on how God has opened our eyes to His work worldwide. Our theme for the weekend was "Cracks in the Wall" ... It is amazing what God is doing in parts of the world where it is VERY dangerous to proclaim the name of Jesus. But there are cracks in the walls, and His Message is getting through, and people are turning to HIM (although we would never guess by what we watch on the news). He loves those people and is reclaiming them for His glory.

We also had some amazing teaching by Jaime Lash where we discussed what THAT day will be like- the Judgement Seat of Christ and how to live every day for THAT day. WOW, so eyeopening and challenging. I am so glad to hear this message now as a young mother where honestly some of my days feel pretty insignificant. SO. NOT. TRUE. He has a series titled "This was your life". You can see more about it by clicking the link above.

This wonderful briefing was held at the Grand Hotel in Mackinaw Island, Michigan. Did i mentioned we took our two kiddos? We may be crazy, but it WORKED and it was alot of fun. Some parts were challenging but there was wonderful "Kids on a Mission" childcare that took care of both of them. There are many Jesus Film briefings like this in the future. If you are interested in learning more, please let me know.

Before Mackinaw, we spent some time in Bear Lake, MI with todd's godparents, Rich and Phyllis. It was a wonderful 2 1/2 days... very relaxing and the perfect way to prepare our hearts for God's message that weekend. We are so thankful to rich and phyllis for their hospitality and company (esp after having a full house for July 4th!) We so enjoyed having time with them and the kids.

We relaxed at the Lake house, picked strawberries, went to Old Faceful, went on the Paddleboat...it was wonderful. there is just something special about michigan in the summer...

so here we are, back @ home... unpacking, doing laundry, going back to work- back to the daily grind. it doesn't seem quite right to do all these normal things after this weekend where we learned about all that is occuring around the world. have you ever had one of those mountain top experiences, and then you come back and feel kinda blah with the normal stuff of life? we are so blessed here in america. so blessed, but yet so numb to the cost of faith... and to what many have sacrificed and put on the line because of their faith in Jesus. Please keep praying for these people.

I heart you

Our little summer babes who bless our hearts more than we can ever express.

Oh Say Can You See?

Happy Fourth of July!

I am so thankful to call this country my home. There are alot of things i could complain about (in the political realm)... but today I am SO thankful that I live in a country where I can worship and proclaim the name of the One True God without fear of death or persecution. There are many countries today where this is not a reality and they are risking their lives daily by living for Jesus Christ. I admire those believers and need to remember to pray for them more often. Thank You Lord for giving us a home where your Name can be said... give me the strength to do it daily.

adored

Thursday, July 3, 2008

I posted about this a few days ago... but finally captured it on film. Jonah is adored by his little sister. And we are beginning to notice that he adores her too (sometimes). Jordan developed a Jonah complex about 3 weeks ago.... she gets upset if she can't see him. It took a little while to figure this out, but what a delight it has been! It's amazing to see at four months, this little girl KNOWS her family, and finds so much security in her big brother. It doesn't matter if he is paying much attention to her, she just enjoys watching him go about his day.

It is a blessing to be their mother, and to watch their own unique relationship unfold right in front of me. I know down the road (hopefully way down the road) there will be arguments and fights like every set of siblings, but right now, in this moment... i cherish that they adore one another.
