Project Life Week 6: Documenting the Olympics

Thursday, February 20, 2014

This weeks Project Life covers the week of February 3-9.

You can pretty much sum this week up with: (more) snow, duck dynasty beards, Greek IV conference, and the Olympics.

Last week I used a Design H pocket page for the right side of my spread.  I used a photo from my TV screen during the opening ceremonies to fill the backside of that page.

A few other things I wanted to document about the Olympics were the Go USA gloves.  I love these and love how every Winter Olympics seems to have a popular merchandise item.  I purchased a pair and used the clear packaging in my spread (the "Go USA").

Girls Weekend Downtown (a layout)

Monday, February 17, 2014

Today I wanted to share a fun layout I did over the weekend.

IMG_4142

Every once in a while I get an idea for a layout and i have to STOP everything and make it!  Ha! This  was the case after I was inspired by this art piece on Pinterest, and I came up with this layout.

IMG_4133

These photos were taken at our girls get away weekend in January.  We stayed at the Alexander Hotel in downtown Indy-- so many neat photo opportunities.  These photos were great for this filmstrip grid I wanted to create.   I am already thinking of how I can re-create this type of layout using travel photos, or even with some of the kids Valentines's from school.

IMG_4131

I kept it simple by using just photos and papers.  I was tempted to add embellishments, but decided to keep it fairly simple and clean.   I used Elle's Studio's Everyday Moments and Love you More collections.

Project Life Week 5: Mixing it Up.

Friday, February 14, 2014

Where has the week gone?  I meant to post this earlier this week, but this has been my first chance!  Today's Project Life covers the week of January 27- February 2.

IMG_4048

I don't know what it is about the month of February-- but it's been so busy that I haven't had a chance to take as many photos as usual.  That's ok though, I love the challenge of using items other than photos to tell the story of our week.

IMG_4044

Since there were fewer photos, I used a regular Design A pocket page for the left, then a Design H for the right side.   I used many items from Elle's Studio's February Kit and the Elle's Studio's February Wood Veneers.

IMG_4049

I also used quite a few extra items:  a cut out from a Boden Catalouge (the gold leaf), tags from my snow boot purchase (will it ever stop snowing?), along with the Style quote that came with my boots, Pacer ticket stubs, and a screen shot of the sub zero temperatures.

IMG_4057

I love having this half page on the right side.  There's nothing wrong with mixing it up every once in awhile to fit your week.

Thanks for swinging by today!   Also linking up over at The Mom Creative Today (a great inspiration resource for Project Life).

Documenting Disney: Part 3

Sunday, February 9, 2014

Today I am sharing Part Three of our Disney Album (from our trip last May).  You can see Part One here, and Part Two here.   Part Three covers Day 5 of our vacation: our day at Epcot!

IMG_4031

This album has certainly been a labor of love, but I am SO enjoying working on it here and there.  Documenting a vacation is like reliving it all over again--- that is what I hope to capture when we look through this album!

IMG_3798

Our day in Epcot began with a Princess Breakfast at the Akerhaus in Norway.  We got to see Belle before being seating-- it was so precious (yet note Jonah's face--- hilarious!)

IMG_3800

I used a Project Life Design G page for when we met Belle.  The backside of the page included the rest of the princess Breakfast.

IMG_3809

We received a "free" photo with Belle at the breakfast (ha! is anything free at Disney?).  I included the photo and also trimmed the "Once Upon a Time", and the outside scene, and the Akerhaus logo from the folder that held the photo.

IMG_3813

It was on to the World Showcase from here--- we just love Epcot!  The photo of Jordan in Japan was one of my favorites.    I used various colored Thickers to spell EPCOT-- with a globe sticker by Amy Tangerine as the "O".  Perfect!

IMG_3815

It rained and we were unprepared except for a small umbrella--- so we had to buy ponchos.  And of course it stopped as soon as they were purchased.   Classic.  (but we would need them on and off all day so all was good).  Of course had to include the receipt for the unexpected poncho purchase (hmmmph).

IMG_3816

This next spread shares photos from Japan, USA, Italy and France in the World Showcase.

IMG_3820

We had the kids silhouettes done in France but the funniest guy--- we had a blast and it was a nice break and chance to sit down.    By far my favorite souvenir of the trip (and inexpensive!)

IMG_3819

Next we visited the UK!   We met a few characters and listened to a Beatles band :)  Next up: meeting Mickey!

IMG_3826

This was one of my favorite memories of the trip.  After I snapped this photo of Jordan next in line to meet Mickey, she turned around and looked at me and said "her tummy was tickling her because she was about to hug Mickey!"   Precious!!!

IMG_3825

Meeting Mickey/Minnie/Pluto got it's own spread.   Pluto was a riot when he saw that Jordan brought in her toy Pluto.  Major fist pumps by Pluto.... loved that he spent so much time with the kids.

IMG_3829

Side note: after we left meeting the characters we came outside and discovered one poncho and stroller was stolen!!! (yes we had 2 umbrella strollers for the kids so they could sit when they were tired--- allowed us to have extra long days).   Can you believe that!?  Jonah also had a toy in the stroller that was taken.  He was devastated.  We looked around and found his stroller dumped along benches a short distance away but the toy and poncho were gone.  I guess there are still thieves in "the happiest place on earth".

IMG_4042

We had dinner reservations right after this happened -- so I included the kids menu from that night along with some journaling about the story.  And about how Todd ran from Mexico (where dinner was) to Japan to repurchase Jonah's toy.  What a dad.

Opening up photo booth and finding evidence of a photoshoot....

What is this!?!?!?!?  haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Jesus take the wheel, it's twin Jordan's.

It's truly a shame she has no personality.

Are those real tears?

And she's off.  (and i am going to clean my scrapbook room now).
