Welcome to part 2 of my December Daily album. Yesterday I shared the first half and shared that I am started (or started?) my album on Black Friday (Nov. 25). Have I actually completed a page yet? No. But I am collecting photos and found objects along the way to add to my album here in the next few days. One thing I have learned is to not beat myself up if I haven't completed the page the day of.
On many pages (like page 15), i paperclipped the tags to the page (instead of adhering the tags now). There is nothing worse than trying to rip the adhesive off the back to slide a photo in!
One of my "found" objects I included in this album is an old christmas card i picked up a few years ago at the grocery store. it was a box of cards i loved, and i actually included this in last years DD album. It's a fun way to add a unique touch that you can repeat year after year.
I recently pinned this image on Pinterest-- i fell in LOVE with the poinsettia flower, so much so that it inspired me to make my own for the album, hence number 19.
One design element I incorporated in my album was that for each spread I typically had a solid paper and a pattern paper. This kept the page from looking too busy or not matching. I think it just helps the whole album flow nicely.
I wanted to let you know that over at Elle's Studio today we are giving away a Jack Frost kit!! This was one of the kits I used to create this album, so GO over there and enter for your chance to win. It's a lovely kit.

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving break (for my American friends:). We had a great weekend with lots of family time and hanging out together at home-- my favorite kind of breaks! I had time to get crafty and completed the foundation my December Daily album!
I used the two most recent Elle's Studio Project Kits-- 'Tis the Season and Jack Frost. We still have a few Jack Frost kits left!! Here's is a closer look at the front cover:
I misted the Maya Road chipboard snowflakes with Studio Calico White Mr. Huey and I loved the way it turned out. Something I did differently this year is that I am starting my album on November 25th (the day after Thanksgiving). We do so many Christmas activities before the actual start of December, and I really wanted these things to be included in the album. Considering the 'Tis the Season kit included numbers 1-31, it was definitely possible to create an album this way!

Outside of the kit I added a few other items from my stash, like bakers twine, a few punches, other Mists , and of course, a Starbucks cup. I couldn't resist! I will share the rest of the album this week and will periodically share completed pages through the month of December! :)

This week's Project Life covers the week of November 7-13th. I am in my 12th week since starting this project and I have three weeks (since i started) to still "make up". Two from September, and one from October (Halloween week). I think overall that's pretty good! The key is definitely to stay current and go back when you are able to make it up.
This particular week was a big week for us-- todd and i traveled to New Orleans for my cousins wedding, while the kids stayed at home with my sister-in-law. The challenge was creating a PL spread that was representative of BOTH todd and i AND the kid's week cross-country! Here's what I came up with:
I obviously had plenty material from our week in New Orleans,but for the kid's week at home I had to get a little creative. My sister-in-law was great to take a few pictures of them with her iPhone and send them to me to print. Also, my friend took a photo of our daughter's at ballet class that week as well and she sent me those photos. Don't be afraid to use other people photos in your Project Life!
Other "found" items I included was a wrapper from some treasured Halloween Candy and some school art work from Jonah. The found items I included from our travels included a hotel room key, tour tickets, and a postcard and brochure from a WW2 museum we toured.
As I mentioned earlier, i took TONS of photos on this trip, and actually took quite a bit of iPhone photos. I thought it would be neat to display a few of my iPhone photos printed by Postal Pix in a 4x4 photo pocket sleeve by We R Memory Keepers. It is actually a 12x12 sleeve that i trimmed down to fit four photos (on each side).
I used quite a few of Elle's Studio Lil' Snippet tags for my journaling, and also I love the 11-11 tagf found in the Autumn Large Journaling tags that I used for the title-- it was perfect for this 11-11-11 week! :)
I have received many questions about the manilla file folder tags I frequently use each week. They are made by 7 Gypsies, and I recently purchased them at Archivers. After looking around for i bit i am pretty sure these are the same ones I purchased. I use them every week and love them!

I find it funny that many of my kids' books and TV shows hit me in a different way than most adult programs. Their favorite shows like Clifford and Charlie Brown are more appealing to me than the morning news... and don't get me started on how much I love their Children's Bible. Sometimes we need to break things down in the most simplest of terms to fully grasp the magnitude. Do you agree?
Recently I was watching the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving/Mayflower Voyagers with the kids (a current household favorite), I was completely struck by the faith of the Pilgrims. I have always viewed Thanksgiving as a time to express to God and man what I am thankful for--- which is something I look forward to every year. However, I have never taken much time to think about the Pilgrims and what it actually meant to do what they did, and how it relates to today's culture.
I think we have a lot to learn from the Pilgrims.
The Pilgrims left England in 1620 in search of a safe land to practice their faith. They didn't agree with the religious practices of England-- and to disagree with the Church of England (which was also the Government of England) was treason. They took a stand and refused to accept what culture viewed as acceptable religion. Their voyage's foundation was on faith. 102 individuals put their lives in God's Hands in hopes to find a place where they could worship Him the way they believed. There were no apologies for their faith, only conviction.
There were no guarantees they would make it to the New World. There were no guarantees they wouldn't get sick. There were no guarantees of what could be waiting around the corner. Their only guarantee was God and their faith in Him.
I think I have a lot to learn from the Pilgrims.
Taking a stand for their beliefs, taking a step of pure faith, and completely trusting in God was the benchmark of the Mayflower Voyage. They endured extreme hardship and uncertainty on their oversea voyage. Upon settling in the New World, over 40 of the original 102 Pilgrims died that first winter. In the Spring-time, God provided the Native American Samoset to help the Pilgrims plant their food and thrive through the summer and fall.
After experiencing loss, sickness, pain, and even death of loved ones, how did they respond to God at their first harvest? They thanked Him. They did not curse Him, they did not scream "why me?", they did not turn their backs on Him. They simply thanked Him.
I think I have a lot to learn from the Pilgrims.
I am so thankful to live in the United States of America where freedom has been fought for (and continues to be fought for today). We are free from any true religious persecution, and free to worship as we choose. That is an incredible blessing, and one I don't take lightly. This very day, there are individuals in other parts of the world being tortured, imprisoned, and killed for professing their faith in Jesus. That is something i just can not comprehend.
I think about the Pilgrims, the men and women being persecuted today, and the pure child-like faith of my five year old son who wants everyone to know about Jesus, and i am in awe of their bravery and boldness. In a world where us "grown ups" are so careful not to offend one another, I am afraid we may run the risk of diluting the most important love message known to man. The message of Jesus and His love for you and me.
I think I have a lot to learn from the Pilgrims.
This Thanksgiving I am thankful for the Pilgrim's example of bravery and boldness. For their determination to thank God even after a season of hardship. And for inspiring me to share my own story of faith. Their story affects my story-- and for that, i am thankful.

i have three Lily Bee layouts to share with you today- hooray!
Last week we did a fabulous blog hop with Maya Road. Lots of great inspiration on our blog! For this layout I used primarily Harvest Market and Memorandum, and created a layout about my crazy summer/fall/(hopefully not winter) issues and supposed culprit of my sinus/headache issues: allergies!
An assignment I had this week was to create a layout with the topic of thankfulness. I came up with this layout:
I knew I wanted to use the Halloween photo of my kids, and my cousins' kids and journal about their sweet relationship (which reminds me of my own relationship with my cousins.)
The inspiration for this fall leaf wreath came from this recent pin on my pinterest board:
Finally, I am blogging today over a Lily Bee with a "keep it simple" layout. Everyone is pressed for time around the holidays, but that shouldn't keep us form creating meaningful layouts. the key? keep it simple.
That is exactly what i did in the layout, from design, to the journaling. i even used a phrase (and photo) from this blog post as my journaling for the layout. easy peasy, thank you very much. And i must add, i adore Lily Bee's Head Over Heels line, it was just perfect for a {simple} Anniversary layout.
