Project Life Week 28: Jumping all over the place.

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

This week's Project Life covers the week of July 8-14th.

IMG_8707

So I am jumping all over the place.  Last week I posted week 25.  The week before was week 26.  Still need to complete week 26 (july 4th), and here we are at week 28.   My OCD self is having a fit with they way this is being organized (on my blog).  but oh well.  seriously not a big deal right?

IMG_8695

I had a blast combining the Cameron collection by Elle's Studio, with my current go-to Project Life Core Kit, Seafoam.  The teal-blues and orange colors in Seafoam perfectly match the Cameron collection.

This was a fun week to document.  Jonah had his second week at IBA camp.  Spent a lot of time in the pool (occasionally it included a wine glass for me), my sister came over, jonah got a hair cut, jordan's hair was in leia buns... you know, the regular summer fun.

Todd had a big week at the office which included a few photos that I just downloaded.  Will probably add an insert later with these photos...  it's totally ok to go back and add more!

a milestone for our chick-hens

Monday, July 29, 2013

this happened at our house this weekend:

IMG_8459

yes my friends.  our chicks have become women.

they are chick-hens.

but seriously?  all in the same day???

I am kind of baffled at the fact that our six chick-hens decided to all lay eggs on the same day.  At first I thought todd planted the eggs in the coop as a joke, but this seriously happened.

i kind of reminded me of college, when at the DG house we were all PMSing on the same week.

you know that theory, right?  when a bunch of women are constantly together, they... "regulate" with one another?

things that make you go hmmmm.

Anyway.  I have to thank my favorite chicken farmer for his hard work the past four months.

IMG_8461

He has been superb at caring for our chick-hens on a daily basis.

I would fill in here and there.  Fearful that my eyeballs would be pecked out when opening the coop door, and even running to the doctor's office on one occasion for a tetanus shot (ok a chicken coop nail cut, who would argue?).

But my husband is the one to thank for this fun little family adventure.

IMG_6879

our kids are equally obsessed.

IMG_8230

SO-- if you are in the indy area and are interested in eggs... let us know! right now the eggs are pretty small, so we want to wait a few weeks for the eggs to be a bit larger.   jonah and jordan are starting a little egg business and would love to have you as customers (organic eggs for cheaper than grocery story prices:).   start saving egg cartons!

Hope you have a lovely monday -- thanks for swinging by!

Ode to the Grid

Friday, July 26, 2013

oh how I love the grid.  it's one of my favorite designs when scrapbooking.  many times i start with a grid and from that i am super inspired to try new things.
IMG_8652

today I am over on Shimelle's blog sharing 5 ways to use a grid design.

IMG_8487

I am sharing a few past layouts, and two new ones.  ( both of these layouts were made primarily with Jenni Bowlin's June Paper crafting kit along with a few Elle's Studio items)

Project Life Week 25: Using JBS

Thursday, July 25, 2013

Going back in time a bit-- this week's Project Life covers the week of June 17-23 (week 25).

IMG_8633

I am learning it's much easier to remember things when you are documenting a more current week!  It's all good thought, I enjoyed making this spread and reflecting on a big week of our summer: Jordan's dance recital!

IMG_8620

I used all Jenni Bowlin Studios for this layout (with the exception of a few stamps, PL core kit cards,  and an Elle's Studio pennant:).   I pulled some unexpected colors-- kraft, reds, and green, to go with my photos.   Isn't that Jenni Bowlin kit exclusive ink dropper stamp awesome?

IMG_8624

This was also a great week with Jonah . I got to spend a lot of time with him while jordan was at camp-- he had TWO playdates back to back and stayed up super late on the longest day of the year.  That was pretty exciting to him :)

Star Wars at the Indiana State Museum

Sunday, July 21, 2013

This past weekend we took a little trip to the Indiana State Museum to see a Star Wars exhibit that is here for the summer.   STAR WARS is a big thing in our house these last few months.  I mean.  My children are obsessed.   So of course we had to go.    I don't think I fully prepared them for what we would see.

IMG_8304

We walked in and first thing we saw was a Storm Trooper.  oh my they were excited.

IMG_8502

We headed up to the Star Wars: Where Science meets Imagination exhibit and we were excited to see SO many items, costumes, and props from the actual movies.
IMG_8533

Someone wore her Leia buns.

IMG_8529

And receiving a compliment from Leia herself was pretty awesome!!

IMG_8503

One of the best parts of the day was that there were SO many Star Wars characters there to take pictures with.  After begin at Disney (and waiting in endless lines for a picture with characters) we were thrilled we could walk up and get photos with anyone!  No lines!

IMG_8538

Jonah and his buddy had a BLAST playing the games and meeting characters!!

IMG_8525

Jonah even aced the trivia game!

IMG_8535

R2-D2!!!  These were actual items used in the movies.

IMG_8512
Yoda
IMG_8536
and C3-PO.

IMG_8617

There was a fun little ride and the one of the Storm Troopers was teasing the kids.  These guys even had the "robotic" voices--- the real deal!!!

IMG_8550

But there was one person Jonah was dying to see.   We rounded the corner, and there he was.....

IMG_8307

heavy breathing and all.

These kids were beyond excited (and maybe I was a little too!???).

All the characters lined up for a photo... so awesome.

IMG_8603

This is the face of one happy little boy:

IMG_8578

If you have a chance to make it to the Indiana State Museum, GO! (we thought the Millennium Falcon Experience was not worth the hour and a half wait we had... see it only if it's not super busy).   It is a fabulous exhibit that is here until September 2nd.

five weeks.

Thursday, July 18, 2013

Today I realized that my little girl will be starting kindergarten five weeks from today.
IMG_7284

I also realize I haven't turned my calendar since June...

so I may possibly be in denial.

IMG_7839

I am so excited for her.  Yet so apprehensive for the change.

I am not "sad"

but, I will miss her terribly.

IMG_7590

I will mourn the end of "this phase of life" where I have a child home with me.

But I will cherish watching them both grow and develop in a school that loves them.

IMG_8067

She is a mix of everything wonderful--Princesses, ponies, and light sabers.

Sometimes she tells me the most thought-out profound thoughts...

IMG_8400

then pops her thumb in her mouth.

She prefers leia buns over hair accessories

IMG_8241

She is crazy, she is sweet.

Photo on 7-11-13 at 3.19 PM

She makes me laugh out loud and pull my hair out at the same time.

Photo on 5-17-13 at 5.06 PM

She tests the boundaries every.single.time.

IMG_7737

I am so thankful for her.

I am so excited for her.

IMG_6741

I want to hold her even tighter

but with white knuckles, I am beginning to open my grip

so that she can fly.
